Berkeley Preparatory School seeks passionate, optimistic and tenacious individuals to serve as our Berkeley Academy teachers this summer! This highly selective, eight-week, paid internship will allow you the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of students. The Berkeley Academy Teachers-Teaching-Teachers program aims to develop your passion for education and service through a supportive, fun and rigorous environment. 

We encourage students from all majors to apply to the Berkeley Academy. As our current and previous teachers will tell you, the mentorship and training in leadership, communication and team-building you receive at the Berkeley Academy will help prepare you for your chosen career path.

The journey to college, for even the most prepared and supported students, can be challenging. For those who may lack guidance or resources, the path to college can seem almost impossible to navigate. You can do something to change that: be that person who makes a positive difference in the world.
The Berkeley Academy hiring process has multiple steps which are outlined below.

Step 1: Berkeley Academy Teaching Application, Resume and Transcript
This step involves: 
  1. Completing and submitting the application below.
  2. Sending an e-mail to sukijemi@berkeleyprep.org with the following items attached:
A. Your resume
B. Your college transcript (unofficial is acceptable)

Please note that step one is not complete until we receive your application, resume and transcript. All of these items must be submitted by January 7, 2024 in order to be considered for our winter deadline.

Step 2: A Sample Teaching Lesson and Guided Questions 
Once the information from step one is submitted and reviewed, candidates who advance will be asked to create and record a 3-minute sample lesson and answer several guided questions for review through FLIX-CV, an online interview platform. Additional information regarding this step will be emailed to all candidates who advance past step one.

Step 3: Group Interview 
Candidates will also be asked to attend one of our two virtual group interview nights. The dates and time of these evenings can be found in the application below. Please mark your calendars accordingly.

Step 4: Individual Interview
In this final round, advancing candidates will be invited to an individual, virtual interview.

Winter Deadline: January 7, 2024

Preference will be given to applicants who submit by this deadline. It is strongly recommend that interested applicants apply by the winter deadline.

Winter Deadline Group Interview Dates are the evenings of January 31, 2024 or February 1, 2024 at 6:15 p.m.

Teaching Subject Preference: Please express your level of excitement in teaching the following course subjects. Please only select "No Interest" if you are unwilling to teach the subject listed.
The Berkeley Academy also offers athletic and enrichment classes for its students. You may be asked to teach one or more of these classes. Please list the athletic and enrichment classes that you would be passionate about leading (examples include: soccer, basketball, music, drama, public speaking, Spanish, chess, computers, arts and crafts, or any sport or subject area outside of the courses listed above).
Please include three references, including name, e-mail, phone number and relationship. Please note, if you are a Berkeley Preparatory School alumus/alumna, one reference must be from a Berkeley faculty or staff member.
All applicants will be required to complete the following essay questions.
